Big Sister Charleston Trip

Two weeks ago Hadley and I took a "big girls only" trip to Charleston for our summer vacation.  The decision to take just Hadley was easy since she is now 4.5 years old and she was very confident in herself that she was a good traveler.  And...imagine holding a 18 month old in your lab in a tiny a** seat for 5 hours, then add a 4.5 hour lay over in one of busiest airports in the country and then another 1 hour flight.  Oh and then add on a 3 hour time change to that...yea nope, no thank you!  Mason enjoyed his quiet time home with just Sloaney.  They went to the park, Sarbucks, grocery store, church, more park and probably more Sarbucks.  Needless to say Mason enjoyed not having me chirp in his ear every hour :)

The Delta Atlanta based flight attendants were amazing!  Hadley and I were up at 4:45am so it was a long day.  The flight attendants loved her, helped me out with potty breaks and even let her sit in the cockpit on the way out since we had such a looooong lay over.

Beautiful Charleston evenings...hot evenings.  Hot, sticky, and humid evenings.  We took a walk down to the Old Bridge to continue our search for dolphins and yet again came up short.  But Hadley got to see people fishing and craving and crazy teenagers jump of the water tower.  I remember having a photo of Hadley at the Old Bridge when she was only 10 months old.  Now to get Sloane there next time we decide to put that wild one on a airplane.

We took the Charleston Harbor Water Taxi from Mt. Pleasant to Downtown Charleston to Waterfront Park so the little miss could burn off some steam and play in the water.  She LOOOOOVED it so much that she showed off her tantrums to all the tourists when we asked her to leave.

Onto the day of ice cream, popsicles and snow cones.  Within a 4 hour period this girl had a snow cone from Pelicans Snowcones, ice cream sandwich from her first ever ice cream truck experience, and 2 popsicles with my dear friend Caroline Frazer's daughter Lucy.  What little girls don't bond over popsicles and iPads?!

Moving onward to our playdate and pool "party" at the Hobcaw Yacht Club.  The two girls I grew up next to now have 6 kids between the two of them.  Therefore what better way to burn some more energy and allow us to catch up...play date at their house!  Hadley, Sutton and Colt bonded over old cell phones and pirates booty.  Insert Sloane and Lucy into this picture.  And add Sally and Caroline to the adult social part and it would have been a fabulous party!

Grandaddy let Hadley drive down the street to the Pitt Street Drug store to pick out ice cream or candy!  Something I used to do after church growing up!

When ya gotta go...ya gotta go.  Nothing like learning how to pop a squat in the south.  Strangely enough though she seemed a little to familiar with it.......Mason?!?!

We wore her out...every day.  She fell asleep in the car or on the couch probably every day for 5 days straight!  And also went to bed by 9pm each day.  Yes, 9pm is past her bedtime but considering our busy schedule that's the best we could do!

More seeing close friends.  I babysat him when he was a baby...baby baby.  Evan is now going to be a freshman in high school!

And to finish the trip right...we had our last flight from Atlanta to San Jose with our close friends Katie and her two girls Emily and Molly.  The last time we will conveniently have a matching flight back home since they are moving to Savannah!  :(

Well until next time.....I know next time may be like 5 months from now since that tends to me by time between blogs, but I'll try and do better if my computer cooperates.  Old computers and even older iPhones don't load photos correctly anymore!
