Goodbye 3 North

Well this blog was intended to keep my family and friends up to date on Hadley's fun experiences, however yesterday was a bitter sweet day as I left some very loved friends and amazing nurses, respiratory therapists and doctors I worked with on 3 North.

For those who don't know, this unit is home to numerous fighters of a nasty genetic disease cystic fibrosis.  We also saw many other very sick patients who battle very difficult illnesses at such a young age.  Their parents are going through things I never wish anyone to go through and I respect their strength so much.  Child Life Specialists play a very vital role in maintaining a normalized environment for these children, while also supporting their family through the difficult experience of having a sick child.  Whether it be preparing a child for an upcoming surgery, playing with a infant so they don't loose their developmental milestones or teaching siblings why their brother is in the hospital and may never come home, 3 North has provided me with the opportunity to tweak these skills and work with patients who I will never forget.

Thankfully I have been given the opportunity to work part time, so I can spend more time at home with my sweet little girl and watch her grow up.  I am not leaving completely, but moving on to develop other relationships as I work with radiology patients.  I will miss all the friends I have made and love being able to remember the memories!
